Beautiful original Victorian oil painting by listed artist Paul Falconer Poole. Signed to bottom left corner. The subject is a barefoot young peasant girl collecting water at a fountain. Nicely mounted oil on canvas in original period gold gilt frame, bearing the artists name.

Paul Falconer Poole (1806 - 1879) of the Royal Academy was an English painter born in Bristol. Known for his fine feeling for colour, poetic sympathy and dramatic power which gained for him a high position among British artists. He exhibited his first work in the Royal Academy at the age of twenty-five, the subject being The Well, a scene in Naples.

His work can be found at the Tate Gallery, London, The Royal Academy, Manchester City Art Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, The Huntington Library, California and many private collections. Oliver Charles is selling a small painting by Falconer Poole for £3650 on their website.

Measurements: Width 615mm, Depth 95mm, Height 680mm (including frame).

Condition report: In excellent condition. Just light surface crackle but nothing serious.
